Mühlacker (DE)/Weiz (AT), 13 February 2026 – Craiss Generation Logistik Austria GmbH & Co. KG officially inaugurated its new facilities at the Weiz site on 13 February. This now makes around 40,000 square metres of warehouse and production space available to an electrical and energy technology manufacturer for whom Craiss has been operating the site as a dedicated warehouse since 2021. Weiz serves as a flagship example of the Group’s modern facilities and services, which go well beyond conventional warehousing. Around 300 guests attended the opening ceremony. Highlights of the event included speeches by Craiss's management, the client, and senior representatives from regional government, including State Secretary Barbara Eibinger-Miedl, Provincial Councillor Claudia Holzer, Provincial Councillor Willibald Ehrenhöfer and Mayor Bettina Bauernhofer. Another highlight was a ride on the trackless electric train through the logistics centre’s new halls.

“The Austrian headquarters is a strong reflection of our Group’s DNA. Alongside the buildings’ high-quality construction and fit-out and the fully digitalised on-site processes, we are bringing together a broad range of logistics services in Weiz, which we also deliver across the Group”, says Matthias Diehm, Commercial Managing Director of Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG, adding: “The significant expansion of space and the further extension of the contract are a strong vote of confidence from our long-standing customer.”

The logistics centre was opened in 2021. Following the expansion, which began in October 2024, the site now provides around 40,000 square metres of hall space for warehousing and production, 24,000 square metres of outdoor space and 1,520 square metres of office space. Craiss took this action to support its customer’s growth and meet its increasing requirements. Operations in the first two new logistics halls began in September 2025. In mid-December 2025, the new production hall was handed over and brought into operation, enabling the technology customer to already carry out parts of its pre-assembly directly at the Craiss site. The opening ceremony on 13 February marked the start-up of the third and final warehouse hall and the move into full operation.

A Flagship Site for the Group
In Weiz, Craiss provides its customer with a broad portfolio of services beyond traditional warehousing and plant supply, including painting, quality inspections and tailored packaging solutions.

Diehm says: “Of our 22 sites, Weiz gives the clearest overall picture of our contract logistics capabilities, and not just in terms of the services it provides.” Craiss is a co-investor in properties at the site, for example. Digitalised and automated solutions in Weiz also keep operations efficient and lean. This includes Craiss’s own warehouse management system (WMS), digital data exchange with the customer, and also the advanced lifting, crane and racking technology in use.

In the longer term, Craiss plans to run pilot projects in Weiz, including in the field of artificial intelligence. These will span, for example, intelligent control of automated conveying and storage systems, and the use of a digital twin to simulate operations efficiently and improve control of logistics processes.

Increased Efficiency and Sustainability at the Weiz Site
With the new space now open, Craiss is bringing its logistics activities for the technology customer together at a single site. By consolidating external warehousing and adding production capacity on site, transport journeys are eliminated, improving efficiency and reducing costs and emissions. Christian Walzl, Managing Director of Craiss Generation Logistik Austria GmbH & Co. KG, emphasises: “We have been using two electric lorries since December 2024 for shuttle runs between the logistics centre and our customer’s production facility. An additional vehicle powered by HVO100 is also available as a back-up during peak periods.”

The energy supply at the site is largely from renewable sources. "With the additional photovoltaic systems on the new roof areas, we are expanding the output by almost one megawatt peak, which means our electricity supply is largely self-sufficient for most of the year. We are also investing in a larger battery storage system”, says Walzl, adding: “With the surplus energy generated here, we also supply our second Austrian site in Ebergassing.”

Investment in the Region
As both the customer and the logistics company grow, new jobs are being created in Weiz in a modern working environment, while existing roles there are being secured for the long term.

Craiss will also be able to respond flexibly to the customer’s growing requirements in future: “The site is designed so that, for example, new handling or assembly stations can be added at any time, and additional crane systems installed,” says Walzl.

The expansion was delivered in close collaboration with the customer and local authorities, and in cooperative consultation with local residents. The opening of the new halls was celebrated on Friday in the presence of around 300 guests.
