Mühlacker, 26th September 2025 – With a ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony, Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG officially marked the start of construction of its future headquarters at the entrance to the Ziegelhöhe district in Mühlacker. On 25th September, the District Administrator of Enzkreis, Bastian Rosenau, the Mayor of Mühlacker, Frank Schneider, and those involved in the project – from the design advisory board to the parliamentary groups to the architects and project developers – met with the Craiss management. Completion by the general contractor, Rommel, is planned for spring 2027. All administrative departments will then gradually move in.
"The groundbreaking ceremony marks the symbolic start of what is being created in Mühlacker: a new home for our company, designed in the signature style of the new generation," says Michael Craiss, Managing Partner of Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG. The new building is being planned in close collaboration with Michael Craiss' daughter and two sons. "As a family business, we act and think with the future in mind. The intention is for a building to be constructed in Mühlacker with which our employees and my children, who will one day succeed me, can identify over the long term," says Craiss.
His son Moritz Craiss, who has extensive expertise in the supervision of new logistics construction projects from his training and studies, is supporting the project planning for the new Craiss building with a project team. He says: "With the new company headquarters, we want to create a place employees will enjoy coming to. With creative spaces for joint brainstorming, the cafeteria as a cross-departmental meeting place, and stairs as integrated seating, we invite people to spend some time here and strengthen the sense of togetherness within the workforce." For Managing Partner Michael Craiss, the new building is an investment in the future: "We want to create an attractive workplace, especially in view of the continuing shortage of skilled workers. This also includes the good public transport connections here at this site, the building's own car park, and the proximity to various shopping facilities."
It's not only the location, though, but also the sustainable construction method that is an important part of the project: the future company headquarters will be built in line with the KfW 40 efficiency standard. The building will be equipped with a photovoltaic system and an air-to-water heat pump. Solid clinker bricks are being used as the building material. This will create a sustainably constructed building that is heated in an energy-efficient manner and which will also serve as a meeting place for Craiss employees. The new building will offer a total of 5,000 square metres of office space, which will be divided half-and-half between Craiss and the Administrative District Office.
In future, all administrative tasks will be bundled centrally at the new location at the entrance to the Ziegelhöhe district. "For the first time in 15 years, we are uniting all organisational areas in one place and creating a home for our company, which operates at 22 locations in seven countries," says Craiss, adding: "It will be a change though because, in future, the operational business will no longer be handled at the same location as administration."
The groundbreaking ceremony on 25th September symbolised the start of construction work. In addition to the Craiss management, the design advisory board, architects and project developers, Mayor Frank Schneider and District Administrator Bastian Rosenau were also on site.
The project is being implemented by the Stuttgart-based general contractor Rommel. Moritz Craiss says: "It was particularly important for us to work with a company whose structures and values match our own. The medium-sized company from Stuttgart was the right choice for us as a Swabian family business." Completion is scheduled for spring 2027. The Craiss staff will then move in gradually, and, at the same time, the Administrative District Office will move into the set-back outbuilding as an anchor tenant.
