Craiss expands its storage area in Regensburg

• Area expansion in response to increased order volume

• New storage platform with 393 additional pallet bays and office space

• Efficiency gains through shorter distances and increased storage capacity on site

Area expansion through storage platform: Craiss uses two pallet locks to transport slow-moving items and packaging materials to bulk storage, freeing up space on the shelving systems for other goods.

Mühlacker/Regensburg, 26th June 2025 – Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG is expanding its storage capacity at its Regensburg site by approximately 760 square metres and 393 additional pallet bays. The storage platform built for this purpose also provides space for offices and break rooms for employees. For a leading manufacturer of electrotechnology, the logistics service provider from Mühlacker in Regensburg is responsible for storing small parts and currently runs a shuttle service three times a day to the customer's assembly plant.

"With the new storage platform, we have worked closely with our customer to find a solution that meets their individual requirements," says Nicole Brantl, Warehouse Manager at the Regensburg Logistics Centre at Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG. The family-owned company moved to its Regensburg location in 2014 and has since been responsible for contract logistics for its new customer at the time, a leading manufacturer of residual current, circuit and fire protection switches for use in industry, infrastructure and buildings. "We are delighted that our long-standing customer has renewed the contract again. As the volume of orders increased, so did the need for storage area. With the implementation of the storage platform, we were not only able to expand our capacities, but also improve process times by storing more goods on site and shortening distances," says Brantl.

Close cooperation with the customer
The storage platform was designed in close cooperation with the customer. Daniel Rentschler, Project Manager/Logistics Planning at Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG, says: "We formed a project team and worked together to develop ideas for the area extension. In addition to the storage platform, we have also installed a shelving system." Planning began in March 2023, construction work started in July 2024, and the storage platform went into operation in August 2024. The final retrofitting work was completed in January 2025, meaning that the platform has been fully operational ever since. "We use two pallet locks to transport slow-moving items and packaging materials to the platform, where they are stored in bulk storage. This reduces the load on our shelving systems, which we use for fast-moving and bulky goods," says Rentschler, adding: "We have further reduced the load on our shelves thanks to the new shelving system, which we use for small parts. This has given us additional area for storing steel coils and other materials."

Thanks to the extended area, Craiss now also stores the customer's machines that are not in operation directly on site on the storage platform. By dispensing with the separate external warehouse previously used, transport distances are significantly reduced.

New premises for Craiss
In addition to storage area, the Swabian logistics service provider is creating new premises for its employees with the storage platform. In addition to a meeting room where customers can be welcomed and employee training courses held, the extension includes a break room with a kitchenette and a changing room for employees. "Previously, we shared the break room on the premises with another company. Now we have our break rooms right in our part of the hall, which saves us walking time and strengthens team spirit," says Brantl, adding, "The hall was renovated while operations continued. I am delighted that this exceptional situation has brought colleagues closer together and that everyone has played their part in ensuring that everything ran smoothly. This meant that there were no delays in daily operations during the renovation work."
