Mühlacker, 16 January 2025 – Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG is expanding its cooperation with a leading automotive supplier. The implementation of a comprehensive transport management system (TMS) marks a significant advance in logistics optimisation and demonstrates the Swabian transport company's commitment to offering its customers efficient, tailor-made solutions.

"Our long-standing partnership with the automotive supplier is proof of the trust and consistency of our cooperation. Together, we were able to optimise the entire transport chain, for example by harmonising pick-up days, consolidating deliveries and reducing truck and ramp movements," explains Matthias Jelen, Head of Freight Forwarding at Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG, adding: "With the introduction of our TMS, we were able to create full transparency, predictability and measurability and raise the efficiency of logistics processes to a new level."

Craiss has been working for the customer for 30 years and as a freight forwarder it has proven that it can handle goods safely, reliably and flexibly. In 2023, the automotive supplier was faced with the challenge of reducing its transport routes and optimising logistics processes. To achieve this goal, it launched an ideas competition, which Craiss won with its presentation of an optimisation solution for transport routes.

Karl-Friedrich Rapp, Head of Transport Logistics at Craiss Generation Logistik GmbH & Co. KG, explains: "With our precise knowledge of our customers and their processes, we optimised transport routes by combining multiple plant scopes, reduced downtimes through time window management and minimised ramp movements through capacity bundling."

The transport management system was implemented within a six-month period and included the seamless integration of IT systems. Use of the online portal and a real-time data exchange facilitated a significant reduction in the effort for the customer. Over 80 percent of supplier calls are now transmitted automatically, which significantly increases the efficiency and accuracy of processes.

Craiss ultimately achieved a significant reduction in journeys for the automotive supplier through the centralised planning and management of shipments and the connection of existing transport service providers to the TMS. Based on the company's optimisation proposals, Craiss' customer now consolidates goods in a central warehouse, which, according to Rapp, also generates an improvement in operational processes. The cooperation with Craiss enables the customer to concentrate on its core competencies while Craiss ensures smooth and efficient logistics.
