Corona: Craiss increases delivery capacity

• Logistics service provider provides help with food deliveries

• Trips with containers for disinfectant have increased six-fold

• Flexible sprinter, express and air transportation are available

Albert Craiss GmbH & Co. KG is counteracting possible supply bottlenecks during the coronavirus crisis. In addition to temporary deliveries to one of the largest German discount retail chains in Baden-Württemberg, the logistics service provider has also significantly increased its transport of containers for disinfectant. Craiss is also responding to restrictions on shipments brought about by official measures to curb COVID-19 by providing flexible sprinter, express and air transportation at short notice.

“With every additional trip, we are not only helping retailers, but we can also put off the inevitability of our employees being put on short-time working hours. It's a win-win situation," says Michael Craiss, Managing Director of Albert Craiss GmbH & Co. KG. The logistics expert has experienced a significant increase in demand for hygiene products. Whereas the Mühlacker company previously carried only four full loads of containers for disinfectant per week, it now carries 25. The food industry, in which Craiss does not normally operate, was also able to count on the haulage company's support. The third sector that has so far defied the coronavirus is that of DIY stores. “Many people who are in quarantine or who are self-isolating are now pottering about in the house, in the garden or on the balcony,” says Craiss. This means that bark mulch and tiles are in demand.

Since freight traffic is not affected by the border closures, we are able to continue travelling or flying to most countries. “In order to protect our drivers, we are not currently travelling to Italy as a coronavirus high-risk area,” says Craiss.
