Nightly transport tracking: Craiss has introduced a Customer Control Center

• An intelligent monitoring tool to relieve the burden on employees

• Proactive truck tracking and informing customers

• Around 70 Europe-wide routes per night on the radar

With the new Customer Control Center, Albert Craiss GmbH & Co. KG is currently tracking around 70 truck transports per night in Germany and Romania.

Albert Craiss GmbH & Co. KG has recently started using a new, intelligent system for monitoring transports at night. With the Customer Control Center connected to vehicle communication systems, the Swabian transport company is able to optimise the accuracy of its night-time processes: The tool records in real time where a truck is located and automatically checks its route and schedule, so that employees on the night shift only have to take action in the event of deviations. On a trial basis, currently almost 65 German and around five Romanian trips per night are connected to the new solution. An expansion of this new workflow to the entire Craiss Group is planned for 2021.

"The Customer Control Center is providing peace of mind and greater accuracy with respect to our night-time processes and is thus resulting in even more trust among customers," said Torsten Kurfiß, head of transportation at Albert Craiss GmbH & Co. KG. Selected transports in Germany and Romania are currently being monitored with the new tracking tool between 22:00 and 06:00. Delays, for example, due to traffic jams or breakdowns, are categorised per a "traffic light" system and can be predicted to the minute and passed on to the customer. The software can also be used to directly contact the driver. The feedback from customers so far has been extremely positive. "With the Customer Control Centre, shippers not only benefit from increased planning security, but also from taking advantage of extended insurance coverage on goods," said Kurfiß. Rollout of the system throughout Craiss is planned for the coming year.
